01 —You Don’t Have to Sound Like an American

Can you please help me sound American? I sent a recording of me speaking English. It was terrible wasn’t it?! My ultimate goal is not to coach you to mimic an actor in a well-known American movie. It’s to empower you to feel safe and mind-blowing freedom to speak English with the beautiful accent you have. This will get you the most favorable results not striving to echo the sounds of an American accent to fit in more.

02 — Pinpoint Sounds that Need Adjusting

Coaches cover all the bases because not everyone hits the ball in the same direction. What’s ideal for you? I keep notes of two or three sounds to concentrate on and hammer the nail in on those before moving on to the next nail.

03 — Manage Your Heart

I used to say no one wants to talk to me in Spanish, Chinese or German. I rehearsed the lie so often it became true. And the weird facial expressions, the silent stares, the oh-no here she comes body language was enough to send me spiraling into a pit filled with negative thoughts. It wasn’t until I learned how to identify my emotions and do the inner work that I recognized how to push pass the no’s and find others who wanted to chitchat with me. Be on the look-out for friendly smiles and accepting body language when you come around. There are plenty of Americans who would love to chat with you.

04 — Get Familiar with the Boundaries for English Pronunciation

Boundaries are placed in relationships, at work, with your pets, but somehow the one for English pronunciation slipped through the cracks. It’s not too late to stop straddling the fence and get your foot back on the other side. Understanding that speaking English has borders that can’t be crossed like everything in life can mend your relationship with English and set your back on the right path to speaking clearly.
